GOVERNMENT URGES DRIVERS TO COMPLY WITH LICENSING AND ROAD SAFETY RULES
Minister for Home Affairs Patrobas Katambi has urged drivers across the country to comply with the conditions of their licences as well as road safety laws and regulations, saying the move is essential to reducing accidents, deaths and injuries.
Minister Katambi made the call today in Dar es Salaam after meeting the senior leadership of the National Road Safety Council, led by Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Ayoub Mohammed Mahmoud.
The meeting also reviewed cases involving drivers who had submitted complaints following challenges affecting bus drivers in various parts of the country on 29 September 2026.
Katambi said some of the cases had already been addressed, while drivers whose matters remain unresolved were advised to report to the Office of the Commander of the Traffic Police Force for further legal procedures.
He also urged all drivers to observe road safety laws, regulations and licence requirements, stressing that discipline on the roads is crucial to protecting the lives of passengers and other road users.
Minister Katambi thanked President of the United Republic of Tanzania H.E. Dr. @samia_suluhu_hassan for her directives on addressing the drivers’ concerns, saying the Ministry received the instructions through the Prime Minister and the Vice President.
He said the Government would continue working with transport stakeholders and security agencies to ensure that emerging challenges are resolved in accordance with the law, while maintaining road safety as a national priority.
